I , for some reason, which I think is a cold coming on, am totally worthless today. Probably because it got down to 34 degrees yesterday low and got down to 47 last night. Spunky is still scratching. Joe is giving him benadryl 2 times a day, I am his official non itch lotion???applier. I am the only one in the house that will go on each side of the base of his tail . It is kind of funny, because he holds his tail over to one side while I apply it, then switches it over to the other side for my convenience. I truly think the family thinks I go EVERYWHERE on the tail area. I would if need be but I would wear a glove or have lots of soap and water. Joe asked me why I would get up and try to quiet him down when I woke and heard him scratching. I told him that is the mom to five kids coming out. It is kind of like an instinct that never goes away. Have to check my chicken.

Spunky is sooo smart to move his tail so you can get to the itchy parts. You are such a good Mom to him and I know you were to your kids too.
I reckon there is a statement somewhere, "Once a mom always a mom!"
34 degrees says let's go to Florida or south Texas. (smile)
But this is from NOrth Carolina. Stuck here for another 3 weeks.
You love him and want to take care of him and make sure he heals! I sure get that! I hope he gets better soon.
